Bobbi Bear cries for help

The organisation also cautions the public of people posing as members of Bobbi Bear.

OPERATION Bobbi Bear goes beyond the call of duty in numerous ways and assisting or rescuing one child is a mammoth task.

“There is a lot that goes into the process of assisting and rescuing a child who has been raped or abused. Once we receive a call, we get a rape bag and a Bobbi Bear and we go to the child. From there we go to the police
station and take a statement, followed by the hospital for medical care. When we are done, we go back to the organisation where the child is given a bath and fed. We then debrief and settle the exhausted child down. A case file is then opened with evidence and case notes,” said CEO of the organisation, Eureka Olivier.

The organisation also cautions the public of people posing as members of Bobbi Bear.

“I am totally broken that there are people in our community going around asking for donations for Bobbi Bear. These donations do not get to us and then I get irate calls telling me how ungrateful we are because no thank you was received. It saddens me that we are fighting to make ends meet daily, and our name is being used to get donations for personal gain. It’s just not fair, because we suffer terribly because of people like this.”

The organisation appeals to the public for the following items: Any second-hand clothes, shoes, linen and towels for all ages, non-perishable food items, sanitary pads, toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, deodorants, basic medical stock, Dettol or Savlon, antibacterial cream, shampoo, nappies, baby toiletries.
Financial support will also be gladly accepted.
