Informers help nab Amanzimtoti criminals

We urge you to sign up with the CCPO to assist us in this ongoing war against crime.

The CCPO believes that without informers, it would be more difficult to apprehend housebreakers. “After getting a lead from my one informers regarding possible stolen property being sold in Felikisi, an early morning raid was planned on Tuesday, 14 July,” said committee member, George Snodey.

With the help of CCPO supervisor, Lloyd Maphumulo, ET’s Tony Lokker and Ashley Naidoo, and a Toti detective, they recovered a laptop, tablet and bluetooth speaker stolen in a housebreaking in Collin Road, Warner Beach a few weeks ago and arrested the suspect.

“We have apprehended him three times and was part of the early release system with all the others that were given a lifeline by our president.” The suspect who had bought the laptop was found playing on it and in possession of drugs he was selling and cash, and was also arrested.

While busy with this raid, the officers assisted Metro Police and a tracking company to recover a stolen Etios that was passing through Toti from Durban. “We chased it into Lovu Township, where the suspects dumped it and escaped. The vehicle was recovered and taken to the pound.”

The team returned to Felikisi in search of more stolen property and recovered a gaming console and another laptop, possibly taken in a house breaking in Marion Road, Toti a few days ago. A pair of expensive shoes that was taken in the housebreaking in Kiaat Place a few weeks ago was also recovered.

“We urge you to sign up with the CCPO to assist us in this ongoing war against crime. It’s just not going to get any better and is gradually starting to get worse,” said Snodey.
