PPE donation keeps Winklespruit staff safe

The forum has already donated PPEs to courts, hospitals, police stations and schools in the Durban area.

Winklespruit Testing Grounds staff members are now armed to protect themselves against the virus while serving the public. Ex-member of parliament, Omie Singh, who is now the president of the KZN International Business Forum, handed over 50 visors and masks on Friday, 17 July.

“We want to protect our people. During lockdown, there has been no interaction with other countries, so we have focussed on providing personal protective equipment (PPE) to our workers on the frontline.”

The forum has already donated PPEs to courts, hospitals, police stations and schools in the Durban area that have requested them. “At courts where a staff member has tested positive, we have given PPEs to protect the other staff. We need our frontline workers to run our economy. We rather protect the staff than have these places shut down.”

For Mandela Day on Saturday, 18 July, the forum held various events to donate winter warmth and blankets to the poorer communities. “We have over 200 members on our database and they have contributed to assist in the fight against this silent killer.”
