Umbogintwini Scouts share Madiba magic

The jars of hope was an initiative by Shawn Collins, the patrol leader for the Leopards.

First Umbogintwini Scouts donated 33 ‘jars of hope’ to the Seed of Hope organisation in Bhekuwandle on Friday, 17 July in honour of Mandela Day.

One jar can feed four people, so it totalled a meal for 132 people. The jars of hope was an initiative by Shawn Collins, the patrol leader for the Leopards.

The 1st Umbogintwini Scouts’ clubhouse is based at 615 Kingsway, Athlone Park. Although all Scout gatherings have been cancelled during the lockdown, these Scouts continue to hold true to their scouts laws that are: a Scout’s duty is to be useful and to help others; a Scout smiles and whistles under all difficulties; and a Scout is thrifty.
