Uber driver lured to kwaMakhutha to be killed

He had stab wounds to the neck and stomach, and his hands and legs were tied.

An Uber driver who was hijacked and killed last month was lured to KwaMakhutha by a ‘friend’, who pretended to be a customer.

That was heard in the uMlazi Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 2 July when the accused, Sboniso Mseleku, 24, and Erasmu Nhasengu applied for bail. A 17-year-old was also arrested for the murder, but was not named at the bail hearing as he is a minor.

Captain Nqobile Gwala of the KZN SAPS Media Centre said Bhekithemba SAPS investigated the case of murder. “On (Saturday) 6 June at 10.30am, the body of a 24-year-old man was found at Y section near the Izimbokodo River.

He had stab wounds to the neck and stomach, and his hands and legs were tied. The victim was reported missing at KwaMakhutha SAPS. His vehicle was found at Mega Philani area. The matter is still under investigation.”
