Amanzimtoti Tablers protect the elderly

We are grateful to have the privilege to assist some of the elderly in our community.

Amanzimtoti Round Table (RT) members are doing their bit to combat the pandemic with a donation of 270 face masks for residents and staff at the Elder’s Voice.

“We supplied two masks per person, with a few extra to spare. They are of great quality – two-layered material masks, which can house a disposable filter, turning it into a three-layer mask when needed for a few days. They are easily washable to reuse for many occasions,” said chairman Terence Hartwanger.

With the elderly misplacing masks from either absent-mindedness or just in transit from regular check-ups and visits to doctors and clinics, RT saw the need to supply them to assist founder Joanne Herbst and her team with the many challenges they face on a regular basis to ensure residents are looked after properly, especially during the pandemic and being in a higher risk category.

“These types of masks are usually valued at R30 each, but we managed to negotiate them at half the price through our awesome contacts and supporters, and sponsor them through some welfare fund money we had managed to raise and save up over the last few months.

“We are grateful to have the privilege to assist some of the elderly in our community and also want to commend the establishments in the greater Amanzimtoti community such as the Elder’s Voice that look after the elderly and work very hard to make their golden years comfortable and ensure they don’t feel abandoned or forgotten. Round Table Amanzimtoti salutes you!”

RT has contacted all local establishments about its mask initiative and a further two have confirmed a need for its efforts and donation as well, which will be delivered soon.
