Twice as many woes for SPCA

Media officer for the organisation, Stacey Wall said, “Today we are reminded how at risk we really are, as a puppy we sent for testing has come back positive for rabies."

While the world faces the coronavirus, the dedicated staff of SPCA Amanzimtoti tackles another major concern.  Rabies.  This comes after a puppy tested positive for rabies, which bumps the organisation’s collective cases up to 17 for this year. This is highly troublesome because a total of 16 cases was handled by the organisation, last year.

Media officer for the organisation, Stacey Wall said, “Today we are reminded how at risk we really are, as a puppy we sent for testing has tested positive for rabies. Spare a thought for our dedicated inspectors and field officer, who form part of essential services, and put their lives at risk daily to go out and attend to animal related emergencies during this time.  Although our inspectors and field officer are most at risk, this is a risk all our staff members face daily. But the animals need us, and that is our priority.”
