Gang of criminals nabbed by Amanzimtoti law enforcement

Four suspects were detained and property exceeding R100 000 was recovered.

A gang of career criminals was nabbed by a persistent Toti crime fighting force. The bust started with ET Rapid Response’s tactical response team (TRT) receiving information on Monday, 10 February with regards to an armed robbery investigation it had been pursuing for a while now.

“The possible whereabouts of a wanted suspect was received and members from our TRT, SAPS Umkomaas Crime Prevention Unit and Metro K9, went to several locations, but were unsuccessful in locating him,” said ET’s Tony Lokker.

During the operation, further intelligence was gathered and more locations were visited. The teams hit the jackpot at one location, where two suspects were apprehended and stolen property recovered. “The property recovered was from several reported cases, spreading from Umkomaas, Amanzimtoti, Durban central and all the way to Hammersdale.

These are serious contact crimes and the suspects have so far been linked to armed robbery, hijacking and housebreaking cases.” Four suspects were detained and property exceeding R100 000 has to date been recovered, with Lokker promising more arrests will follow.
