Umbumbulu rapist sentenced to 10 years imprisonment

The docket was investigated and handled by Sergeant VO Mahlikihla of Umlazi FCS.

An Umbumbulu rapist was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Scottburgh Court on 27 January.

The accused, a 17-year-old boy, raped a 12-year-old boy on 30 January 2011. The victim lived in the Umbumbulu area at the time of the incident and the accused was arrested on 30 October 2014. The docket was investigated and handled by Sergeant VO Mahlikihla of Umlazi FCS.

“We will continue to fight crime hard by ensuring sexual criminals do not get away with crimes and continue to fight for the victims of sexual crimes, so that they can get closure and justice for the crimes against them,” said acting cluster commander of the eThekwini Outer South cluster, Brigadier Vukani Mgobhozi. “I applaud the investigating officer for good work and I hope this sends a clear message to all kinds of sexual predators that we will not stop until they face the law.”
