Clean Surf’s Romy Wenzel, explained that there is more exciting news for residents to come in the months ahead. “A competition will be launched during the month of February in connection with the KZN Marine Waste Network South Coast Project that was launched in June 2019. The pilot project is focusing on a 9km stretch of beach from Umbogintwini to Amanzimtoti River with the aim to reduce plastic pollution in rivers, storm water drains, informal settlements and so forth. This will ensure clean beaches all year round.  In cooperation with stakeholders from the plastic industry, Clean Surf Project will be looking for an IsiZulu name to give the pilot project a recognisable identity.”
