Amanzimtoti Cycling Club has a busy schedule planned

Well attended, all the relevant reports were heard and the new committee voted in.

Amanzimtoti Cycle Club’s AGM was held on Wednesday, 16 October, at its club house at Amanzimtoti Sports Centre.

Well attended, all the relevant reports were heard and the new committee voted in. The club has done well over the last year, with the new club house being the biggest project undertaken and completed. Club members have also done them proud, with over 30 podium finishes over the year.

It was decided that a minimal club fee increase was due. However, at only R300 per member for the year, and scholars at R80, the benefits of belonging to the club, from the monthly socials, the sponsored cycle shirts, sponsored coffee rides and general club atmosphere are well worth it. Visit the club’s website on www.amanzimtoticycle.co.za, or contact club chairman, Barry Walker, on 083-459-8253 for more information. The public are reminded that the new club house is available for function hire, contact the club house manager, Shaun Heinze, on 074-848-7405.

There is a lot of exciting events coming up in the year ahead, including bush-life adventures rides, as well as a Wild Coast New Year ride arranged by the new MTB captain, Shaun Heinze.

Those who attended Rickey Hulley’s bush-life adventure rides in the past will remember how much fun they were – riding new, interesting routes that most had not ventured to before, the volume of riders that would attend the monthly ride and the new friends that one made on these rides.

People came from Port Shepstone, Durban North, Hillcrest and further to experience Rickey’s rides. So here is the first, of hopefully some more to come. The cost of this ride includes your meal after the ride. The night ride will be around 25km from Umdoni and into Umzinto river valley and back. Join the club’s Facebook page for more details. Bookings close on Wednesday, 13 November, and space is limited.

The club’s MTB captain is in the process of arranging a MTB ride from the Wild Coast Sun Casino leaving at 6am from the casino parking lot on Monday, 30 December. They will ride through the wild coast on Jeep tracks and paths riding past some fantastic waterfalls to Umtentu Lodge 40km into the wild coast. Once there a full itinerary has been planned. For more details, call Shaun on 074-848-7405. Booking is essential as places are running out and need to be confirmed.
