He urges residents to consider using either, solar power, an inverter or a generator.

With the sudden implementation of load shedding across the country, Ward 97 Councillor Andre Beetge encourages residents to explore alternative sources of electricity.

“The sudden warning of Eskom’s intention to implement stage 2 load shedding should certain usage levels not be attained, came as a shock to all, apparently even to the eThekwini head of electricity. While debating warning and reality, Eskom suddenly confirmed the latter on a social media platform having the department sing a different song within five minutes,” he said.

He urges residents to consider using either, solar power , an inverter or a generator especially where there are medical or other conditions prevailing

“Unfortunately and until alternative measures are implemented, the city is then obliged to follow the same procedure, being that Eskom supply is reduced thus depriving the city distribution capacity. But typical of the left hand not knowing what the right is doing, seemingly nobody heeded the fact that matric pupils across the country were sitting for exams, thus suddenly finding themselves in the dark or deprived of other electrical devises or equipment – really most inconsiderate to say the least. Whether an isolated incident or yet another dragged period of confusion,” he added.

Residents should also keep fridges and freezers closed to minimise possibility of losses.
