Bowlers celebrate Heritage Day at Toti Bowling Club

Toti Bowling Club celebrated Heritage Day in classic style with a well supported tabs-in game of 4’s followed by a braai.

Thanks go to their in-house DJ, SuperMac, who had toes tapping and heads bobbing to his great music as the tantalizing smell of braai smoke drifted over the greens. Winners for the day were John Hewgill, Jane Coetzee, Martin Birch and Cathy Badenhorst. Runners-up were Doreen Salmond, Andrew Walker, Greg Veldtman and Debbie Gueffroy while the team of Brian Masters, Jacqui Fouché, Maggie Robertson and Alet Wobben managed to secure the second session prize and the 100 board was won by Dave Kemp.

Getting a head start on the 2019/2020 season, the men played the first round of drawn 4’s on Sunday, 29 September. The following teams are through to the second round: Linden Cooper, Dallas Davis, Martin Birch and Bobby Henderson; Vince Marriott, Brad Cox, Gerald Chalder-Royle and Innocent Sithole; Alec Stirzaker, Alan McGregor, Steve Woor and Greg Veldtman; and Doug Joubert, Tony Cam, Cleve Hein and Gary Marquis-Jones. Two teams are through to the third round after a bye on the first round, Glen Scorgie, Mike Pitchers, Brian Masters and Shaun Fagan; and Greg McLeod, Terry Morgan, Paul Davies and Wessie van der Westhuizen.

Robbie Roberts won the 100 board at TGIF, but sadly Richard Anderson was not present to collect the attendance draw so the pot will roll over to R150 next week. In the key draw the Damagers tried very hard to find the right key, but were unlucky so next week’s jackpot will be worth R5 600.

Several honours board games have been posted on the notice board already so make sure you get your names down before the closing dates. As no one is celebrating a birthday in the next week, the club wishes all its members good health and good bowling.
