Swift police response leads to Folweni robber bust

The vehicle was hijacked in Lamontville.

An 18-year-old robbery suspect was nabbed by police at Folweni on Monday afternoon, 23 September.

Earlier that day six armed men entered a supermarket in Sheleni Road in Adams Mission and robbed employees of an undisclosed amount of cash, grocery, cigarettes and cell phones, before fleeing in a getaway vehicle.

The investigation led police to Folweni where the suspects’ vehicle was spotted. The man was arrested and some of the stolen property recovered.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle was hijacked in Lamontville. The suspect was charged for possession of suspected stolen property and will be linked to the carjacking.
