Some members of the Kingsway High Ballroom Dancing Club took part in the Ilembe championships on Saturday, 17 August. Thandoluhle Magubane and Slindokuhle Kheswa: Latin girls level 1, first place. Slindile Magwaza and Anelisiwe Nkomonde: Latin girls level 1, second place. Shedon Steyn and Sikhona Masuku: Latin youth level 1, first place. Shedon Steyn and Ntuthuko Ncama: ballroom youth level 1, second place. Minenhle Mshengu and Ntuthuko Ncama: Latin youth level 2, second place.

 

Three Kingsway High learners broke records at the inter schools athletics, hosted by Kingsway High School on Saturday, 3 August. Dean Nyland for long jump, Codi Ferreira for discus and Nathan Haylock for U16 boys 800m and 1500m. Kingsway was placed third out of 14 schools on the day and were the highest placed school from Amanzimtoti. Fifteen Kingsway High School learners were selected to represent KZN in various age groups. They will take part in an inter provincial championships in Cape Town

 

Amanzimtoti High School congratulates Wandile Ndwalane, Lynton van Schalkwyk, Linda Khoza, Mpilonhle Zondo and Siphosethu Ndimande for their recent selection for the Sharks Youth Club. They will play in an inter provincial tournament from 21 to 29 September hosted by the Lions Rugby Union at Marius Viljoen High School in Johannesburg. Pictured are Linda Khoza, Wandile Ndwalane, Lynton van Schalkwyk and Mpilonhle Zondo. Absent in the photo is Siphosethu Ndimande.

 

Six Kuswag Skool learners took part in the first KZN Spur Schools MTB league at Kearsney College on Sunday, 28 July. Silke Bester achieved third place in the girls’ U13 division and Mieke Bester achieved second place in the girls’ U9/10 division. Shiloh van Zyl, received fifth place in the girls U11/12 while Dawie Snyman came in at 11th place in the boys’ U13 race. Silke and Mieke Bester also took part in the second race on Sunday, 11 August, which took place at the Historic Maritzburg College.

 

Kuswag inter-house athletics took place on Saturday, 27 July. Ruan Swart received a trophy for the best track athlete and Janine Denysschen for the best field athlete.

 

Two of Kamalinee Primary’s Grade 5 learners recently participated in the eThekwini storytelling competition. Siphumelele Dladla represented the school in the Zulu aspect and Aphelele Fezeka Mtolo represented the school in the English aspect. Both learners gave an excellent account of themselves and Aphelele was placed second.
