#Amanzimtoti – Get lost in the tranquility of Umbogavango Nature Reserve

The three reserves, the Vumbuka and Umbogavango reserves, and the Mamba Valley have been transformed from a series of waste disposal dams into conservation areas within the Umbogintwini Industrial Complex.

The tranquility and serenity in the thick, lust forest at Umbogavango Nature Reserve in Amanzimtoti is the perfect experience for the friends of the outdoors.

The three reserves, the Vumbuka and Umbogavango reserves, and the Mamba Valley have been transformed from a series of waste disposal dams into conservation areas within the Umbogintwini Industrial Complex.

These dams are now high in nutrients attracting a huge number of waterfowl, particularly in the summer months. Rare and magnificent birds can also be spotted in the nature reserve, the area has become a haven for birds and small animals. Pack a picnic and gather the family for a memorable and enchanting day out.

To get there: take the N2 south from Durban towards Amanzimtoti, take the Moss Kolnick/KwaMakhutha offramp. Turn right and travel west for 1km along Moss Kolnick Drive and then turn right into the Umbogintwini complex. The reserve is on the right.  To visit the area, you have to make an appointment.  For a permit, call 031- 949-2081.
