90th Birthday celebration at Women’s Institute

The meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month

The Amanzimtoti Woman’s Institute was honoured to celebrate past president, Muriel Hartwig’s 90th birthday at Giselle’s Restaurant in July.

The meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at St Mary’s Anglican Church at 9am.

There is also a guest speaker and tea. At the July meeting, the entertaining guest speaker was Lynnette Rowe, who is also the Adult Education judge.

She encouraged them to avoid using ‘you’ and ‘I’ to improve creative writing. The guests were also taught how to write a limerick for the August competition.

The next meeting was on 13 August and the guest speaker was be the ever-popular Peter Butterworth.

The women’s institute would like to see more women attending the meetings with the aim to join the group which is a part of huge international community of women who have managed to lobby to bring about changes from time to time and who have made a difference in the lives of others around the world.

They also have competitions for floral art, agriculture, cookery, handicraft, craft and an open table for work completed in the month.
