Assistance needed: Amanzimtoti family lose everything in house fire

Donations of clothing, furniture, food, appliances or cash will help the family slowly piece back their life.

Making it out with only the clothes on their backs, a family of six is requesting for help from the Amanzimtoti community after their Kissin Lane home was gutted by a fire on Saturday night, 20 July.

Donations of clothing, furniture, food, appliances or cash will help the family slowly piece back their life.

Kuswag Skool educator, Justin Powell, who is assisting the family said, “One of the sons was woken up by his dog licking his face during the early hours of the morning. When he realised that the home was alight, he rushed to alert his parents, two brothers and grandmother. The fire ravaged everything the family owned. In the rush the Jack Russel, poodle and cat ran off and have yet to be found.”

Powell urges the community to assist the family by making a donation to help them rebuild their life.

Donations can be dropped off at Kuswag Skool.

Monetary donations can be made into the following account: J Powell, ABSA Galleria, cheque, account number: 4081367833, reference: Jacobs emergency.

With regards to donations of clothing, the mother is a size 38/40; the father an XXL top, size 38 trousers; the grandmother a size 38; the 10-year-old son age 11-12 clothing; the 13-year-old son size small and a size 8 shoe, the 15-year-old son a size large and size 12 shoes.

The two older sons are still in need of school shoes, but the Kuswag uniform shop has assisted the children with all other uniform needs.

Monetary donations will go towards food, stationery and other necessities not donated.
