Winkle bowlers to finalise pairs comps

With the men and women’s inter club league games now over, the mixed monthly trips played on Saturdays at Winkle Bowling Club will resume to the second and third Saturday of the calendar month.

Social bowls was well attended on Wednesday, 25 and Friday, 28 June. The club thanks Trish Farmer and Honey Nell for the delicious hamburgers, salad and pudding which was enjoyed by all. The attendance draw was won by Basil Ananiadis. In the club competition nominated men’s trips results of the first round, Rob Troughton, Coy Schrauven and Les Gibbens overcame Alan Raubenheimer, Reg Behr and Alan Baxter.

Members are requested to get their pairs competitions finalised as soon as possible to avoid being carded, as the club now needs to concentrate on the trips competition. In the Clearwater Spur men’s nominated 2-4-2 played on Thursday, 27 June, overall winners were Barry Hilton and Martin Young. Second session went to Steve Evenwel and Shawn Sutherland. The 100 board was won by Steve Evenwel. In the Eagle Canon Spur monthly mixed trips played on Saturday, 29 June, overall winners were Brian Cox, Elmarie Young and Rob Stewart. Second session went to Lou Bingham, Dries Snyman and Sandy Snyman. Sincere apologies to the teams involved in the mishap with the final scores calculated. The 100 board was won by Les Gibbens and the liquor hamper was won by Paul Hedley.

Diarise the following dates: women’s Caltex twinkle trips takes place on Wednesday, 10 July, contact Lou Bingham. The men’s Kwik Spar trips will be played on Thursday, 11 July, contact Barrie de Wee. The monthly mixed trips will be played on Saturday, 13 July, contact Barrie de Wee. All morning games start at 8.30am for 9am. Members to note club subs of R660 are due by end July. Social bowls is on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1.30pm for 2pm. There will be a meal on Friday evening, 5 July, put your name on the board or contact Trish Farmer if you wish to attend.
