Journey back in time at fifth Clairwood Roots reunion

Bring your families to meet and greet, and celebrate with long lost friends.

Families and friends are invited to join hundreds of former and present Clairwood residents for a reunion on Saturday, 29 June at Clairwood High School grounds. “We have now entered into our fifth year of hosting a day and night celebration reunion of residents of the once largest Indian settlement outside of India,” said Clairwood Roots reunion committee PRO, Ronnie Vengan.

“A small group of former Clairwood residents embarked on this initiative to organise and host this reunion of such great magnitude over the past four years and we had such a huge response, we decided to host ‘The last of the big bash’ in our fifth year. This reunion is an opportunity for all families who have or had their roots in Clairwood to come together with their picnic baskets, gazebos, braais and whatever they have that reminds them of the once vibrant and rainbow Clairwood.”

Enjoy live music from Evil Eye, Indo Fusion (Bollywood Chutney) and Men In Black, with old forgotten games, many sports events, jumping castles, train rides for children and adults, and many food stalls from 1pm until late. Entry is free, with lots of prizes and awards.

“The highlight of the day is recognising and honouring the 75-year-old and over living legends of Clairwood Roots. Bring your families to meet and greet, and celebrate with long lost friends while we relive the memories of the good old days of Clairwood,” said Ronnie.
