A handful of Toti bowlers progress to the second round of the men’s open singles

There were 15 first round games of the men’s open singles played at Toti Bowling Club on Sunday, 2 June.

Going through to the second round were Doug Joubert, Carl van Heerden, Mike Pitchers, Ian Crouch, Barry Bush, Lofty van Tonder, Vince Phaal, Dion Audie, Alec Stirzaker, Dallas Davis, Greg McLeod, Barry Buckland, Ray Robinson, Glen Scorgie and Dave McMillan.

In the second round Dion beat Vince; Ray defeated Barry Buckland and Greg beat Mike.

In round one of the women’s open singles over the weekend, Nicky Stirzaker beat Marie van der Walt; Jackie Holdrick overcame Carole Glaves and Heather Cooper defeated Kathy Sharp.

In the second round Heather beat Jackie; Tokkie de Kock defeated Dawn Schauer and Kathy Cox beat Jaylene Fagan.

In the women’s inter-club league, Toti A lost 2-3 versus Bluff A at Stella Park; Toti B won 3-2 against Westville CC A at Lahee Park and Toti C lost 0-5 versus Collegians B at Umhlali.

In the men’s league, Toti A lost 2-5 against Bluff A at home; Toti B won 5-2 versus Lahee Park B at home; Toti C won 7-0 against Durban B away; Toti D won 3-2 against Westville CC D at home; and Toti E lost 2-3 against Collegians C away.

Good bowling of Greg McLeod and Dion Audie and their teams in the KZN fours tournament from Saturday, 8 June to Monday, 10 June being played in the Kingfisher District.

At TGIF, the 100 board was won by Pete Shepard. Trevor Zulch was present to win the attendance draw; so this week’s prize will again revert to R100.

Sadly Pete Callaghan did not choose the lucky key; next week’s key draw will be worth R3 840.

Birthday wishes are sent this week to Vish Studinski and Greg McLeod. Good health is wished to all the members.
