Businessman reaches out to Rockview Road victims [PHOTOS]

The cost of the recovery is estimated at about R45 000, which CC Crane Hire donated, free of charge.

A local businessman opened his heart to the family worst affected by last week’s deluge that destroyed Rockview Road.

Gary Hansraj, the owner of CC Crane Hire in Umbogintwini, said he was driving past to have a look at the devastation that the flood caused in Toti on Friday morning, 26 April when he stopped on Rockview Road and met the tenant of number 45, Johan Fourie.

Johan, his wife, grandson and dogs were fortunate to flee from the building at about 2am on Thursday, 18 April after feeling it about to give way. The family lost all their possessions in the catastrophe.
“After Johan told me the story about what happening, we decided to offer our assistance,” said Gary.

One of their massive cranes was moved on site, as well as a rigging crew, and after labouring from about 8.30am to 2pm, they had pulled out a Mercedes SLK 200, a white panelvan, a Hyundai SUV, Venter trailer and motorcycle.
