Granny fights off bag snatcher

A WOULD-be bag snatcher got more than he bargained for when he attacked a Warner Beach resident on Thursday, 21 April.

Magdalena Boschoff, 84, a resident at Jabulani Old Age Home is now admired at the complex after she fought off the attacker with her walking stick. Magdalena was on her way home from the shop at about 2.30pm, when she was attacked outside the Jabulani complex in Sutton Lane.

Man robbed of car and cash

A MAN was robbed of his cash and car outside the Standard Bank ATM in Prospecton on Sunday, 16 April.

Athlone Park resident, Clive Howse said the incident happened at about 4pm. “When I stopped my car at the door of the ATM there was no-one around. My son was with me in the car, so I locked the car and left the keys inside.” After withdrawing money, Howse walked to the door, where he was confronted by three youth.

Suspect arrested at scene

TOTI police recovered a vehicle on Saturday, 23 April which had been stolen from a detective’s home in Lamontville. The Lamontville police vehicle was found crashed into a pole in Toti. A suspect was arrested on the scene.

Woman shot dead

A WOMAN was shot dead at a Reunion petrol station on Monday, 25 April.

Mrs Fathima Kadwa had filled her car with petrol in Old Main Road, Reunion when three armed men walked up to her car. The men first threatened Kadwa and then shot her in the stomach. Kadwa’s passenger, Safia Padia, 21, managed to escape before the men drove away in the car.
