Meet special vote application deadline

The cut-off date for a special vote application is Thursday evening, 5pm.

THOSE applying for a special vote in light of the upcoming elections are to note that the cut-off date for applications is Thursday evening, 5pm.

Cllr Andre Beetge elaborated on the details of the special vote, and urged those who haven’t already applied to do so immediately.

IEC officials will conduct home visits on Monday and Tuesday, 6 and 7 May for the elderly, pregnant or disabled persons. Those who are on leave or cannot take leave to vote, can visit the voting stations on Wednesday, 8 May.
In the case that one has a carer and is unable to leave their home to vote, they should not only apply for themselves to be visited at home to cast their vote, but urge their carer to do so too.

“Seeing as the IEC officials will visit their home to take their vote on a day alternative to 8 May, their carer should also be included and apply for a special vote too, so that they may also cast their vote simultaneously,” said Beetge.
To make an online special vote application, visit www.elections.org.za/IECOnline/Home, and see tab ‘special votes’.

If unable to apply online, call Cllr Andre Beetge on 082-718-8137. When making the call, you must have with you your ID book, official address that you will be visited at and a cell number that you’re able to receive your special vote confirmation SMS.
