Kamalinee Primary martial arts duo shine at championships

Acelia and Jarel Esterhuizen attained nine medals over the course of the two-day championship: five gold, two silver and two bronze.

LOCAL brother-sister duo Acelia (11) and Jarel Tobias Esterhuizen (8) represented United Martial Arts International the Full Contact Martial Arts Association (FCMA) National Championships held on 5 and 6 April in Kempton Park, Johannesberg.

The Kamalinee Primary School learners produced exceptional results, doing their school and the Amanzimtoti community proud.

Acelia and Jarel attained nine medals over the course of the two-day championship: five gold, two silver and two bronze.

Eleven-year-old Acelia emerged victorious as the FCMA South African Champion for Creative Weapons and Creative Forms in the U13 females and eight-ear-old Jarel earned the title of FCMA South African Champion for Creative Weapons, Creative Forms and Continuous Fighting in his respective age group.

The champs saw a whopping 440 athletes participate from all nine provinces.

Louis Phillip, Razak Ally, Mohan Hira, secretary general Gauteng Sports Confederation Yaseen Lombard, Barry Hendricks, Shihan Aslam Mahomed, Kancho Allan Mahomed, Ebrahim Akoodie, Muhammed Cajee and Sensei Kiro Thembalabo Febana were all present at the prestigious tournament.

Kancho Allan Mahomed and Shihan Aslam Mahomed congratulated the siblings on their extraordinary capabilities and astonishing results.
