KwaMakhutha rapist sentenced to 18 years

A 14-year-old girl was visiting a neighbour on 3 October 2014 when Bandile Kwandile Mapumulo raped her.

A KwaMakhutha rapist got what he deserved when he was convicted and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment at Umlazi Court on Wednesday, 27 March. A 14-year-old girl was visiting a neighbour on 3 October 2014 when Bandile Kwandile Mapumulo (18) called the victim over and raped her.

The accused was arrested and charged with rape on 4 October. His conviction was thanks to Sergeant Khanisile Fihlela from Umlazi FCS, who worked tirelessly to ensure a good conviction.

“We are sending a stern warning out to all sexual perpetrators. We will ensure you are arrested and face the long arm of the law. We will not allow you to hurt innocent women and children in our community again. Well done to Sergeant Fihlela for his commitment in securing a good sentence,” said Umlazi FCS acting commander, captain Michelle Dwarajh.
