Small Warnadoone nipper team 9th at SA champs

Competitors had to overcome very tough conditions with icy rain, extreme cold, rough surf and rips. The club and all parents are extremely proud of them.

WARNADOONE Surf Lifesaving Club’s nippers shone at the recent SA champs which took place at King’s Beach in Port Elizabeth from Monday, 25 March to Wednesday, 27 March.

The local club achieved ninth position in the country.

Little Leah Lepront of Warnadoone Lifesaving Club shows up a ‘number one’ after completing her event at the South African Nipper Championships held in Port Elizabeth from Monday, 25 March to Wednesday, 27 March.

“We had a very small team of 17 nippers and managed to not just make it into the top 10 but came ninth,” said Catherine Lepront. “Each child gave so much to get those points, not just the winners, everyone gave so much of themselves and supported each other constantly.”

Warnadoone nippers and friends Luke O’Connor, Riley Carr and Luc Lepront gear up for the kneeboard event while taking part in the recent South African Championships held in Port Elizabeth, from Monday, 25 March to Wednesday, 27 March.

Medal achievers were:

Cruz Reynolds (U9) 1st bodyboard, 3rd run swim run, 3rd surf swim
Leah Lepront (U9) 1st surf swim, 2nd run swim run
Keren Brien (U10) 2nd flags
Louise Lepront (U11) 1st bodyboard
Riley Carr 3rd long run
Josh Brien (U12) 3rd flags
Luc Lepront (U12) 3rd bodyboard

Warnadoone Lifesaving Club extended gratitude to Cool Perfection, Hypersure Insurance Brokers, C-Breeze Restaurant and The Employ Africa Group for the sponsorship of kits.

The nipper season has come to an end for 2019, but the club looks onwards to an exciting 2020 season ahead, which kicks off in August.
