Be The Band 2019: Galleria Mall’s musical talent search winners decided

2Unique was noted for its musical talents and was deemed the winner, while NSC Worship and Kodiak were awarded prizes for placing second and third respectively.

A WORTHY winner was decided at Galleria Mall’s Be The Band talent search competition on Saturday, 23 March, when 10 finalists vied for the prestige of being able to play on Splashy Fen Music Festival’s main stage on opening night.

2Unique was noted for its musical talents and was deemed the winner, while NSC Worship and Kodiak were awarded prizes for placing second and third respectively.

The top 10 finalists who performed at Galleria on Saturday were: Fill the Blank, Afrogong, NSC Youth Band, Keely Crocker, 2Unique, South Wolves, Kodiak, Laleh Luthuli, Tanner Wareham and Zenzi Sibisi.

“It was no easy task for the judges of Galleria Mall’s Be the Band competition as all the bands put on a sterling performance. The judges were Minnie and Tee from East Coast Radio and GM of Galleria Mall Kurt Hoggan. Minnie and Tee are former Idols SA contestants and they also featured on the last season of My Kitchen Rules SA,” said Galleria Mall marketing manager Anusha Timul.

“2Unique was announced as the unanimous winner, they set the stage alight. Their performance was electrifying and had the audiences on their feet, even the shy show-goers couldn’t help themselves but bop away to the music. 2Unique will perform on the main stage at Splashy Fen and will also be playlisted on East Coast Radio for six weeks.”

Port Shepstone’s NSC Worship won second prize, along with a R10,000 Galleria Mall voucher. Third prize was a R5,000 African Bank investment, which went to Kodiak.

The organisers congratulated all the bands that performed and Galleria Mall is proud to be associated to East Coast Radio’s Be the Band competition.
