Teach your family to switch the lights off when they leave a room.

Eskom offered the following tips:

  • Switch off all the lights around your house outside.
  • Switch off all the lights in the house where the rooms are not in use.
  • Teach your family to switch the lights off when they leave a room.
  • Unplug all the chargers in the house if they are not charging any device, because they are still consuming power when they are plugged in and the plug is in the on position.
  • When you boil water only put in enough water in for the amount of cups you want to make – less water means the less power used.
  • Keep your geyser off and only put it on an hour before bath time.
