Fibre network roll-out to start in Amanzimtoti

The work will be done with the least amount of disruptions to residents.

Amanzimtoti residents are warned that work is underway to install fibre optic internet from the Umbogintwini River in Prospecton to the Illovo River. Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge said work has begun to install the main line and the project is expected to be completed in October.

“Once the main line is done, fibre optic will be available in the residential areas,” he said. Residents will be informed via letter when work will start in their area. “The work will be done with the least amount of disruptions to residents. Where they can, they will tunnel under driveways.

The main line will be installed first and then the phases into residential areas. Having fibre optic available will decrease copper theft and outages in the Toti area.”
