Teen found unresponsive after near-drowning incident in Amanzimtoti

Lifeguards administered CPR after finding the boy unresponsive and not breathing.

A 16-year-old boy was found unresponsive by bathers after a near-drowning incident at Nyoni Pools in Amanzimtoti at about 1pm on Sunday afternoon, 13 January.

Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst said lifeguards were alerted and they immediately started CPR after finding the boy unresponsive and not breathing. The patient was treated on scene by an advanced life support paramedic and transported to hospital for further treatment.
