Some 400 seniors spoilt at annual Masonic lodges lunch

FOR the last 36 years the Masonic Lodges in Amanzimtoti have hosted senior citizens to a Christmas lunch complete with prizes and entertainment.

This year was no different, with the annual event taking place on Sunday, 4 November at Amanzimtoti Civic Centre.

The event was re-named posthumously after Br Tony Beard who was Master of Lodge Fort Jameson during the inaugural year. His efforts in establishing this event must be acknowledged. The lunch is paid for by the Lodges from their fundraising efforts during the year.

Even with Lodges Fort Jameson, Grantleigh and Amanzimtoti working together, there are insufficient hands to help on the day, and so different organisations are requested to help. The Lions Clubs always pitch in, as do individuals who give up their day to work at the lunch. This year’s event was attended by some 400 guests, which meant a lot of work for the weary helpers.

Assistance was also given by the Eagle Spirit Riders Motorcycle Club members who worked tirelessly to serve and wash up.
