It was a case of two for the price of one when the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) went in search of a known housebreaker in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 2 October.
Acting on information received from informers, CCPO and Blue Security patrol officer, Mbuyiselo ‘Triple M’ Mdunjane, crewman Mbambo Nhlanhla and committee member, George Snodey went to Felikisi at about 3.30am to look for the housebreaker who had broken into a premises in Steepway Place, Doonside and stolen power tools.
“When we knocked on the door and asked the owner of the house if he was there, he acknowledged the suspect was in one of the rooms and allowed us to enter to question him,” said Snodey.
The man was immediately identified as the one they were looking for and the power tools were recovered. However, while talking to him, another man sleeping next to him woke up and the crime fighters recognised him from CCTV footage taken at Saphire Cove Pub in Doonside that was broken into a few weeks ago.

“He was also linked to a house breaking in Adams Road not too long ago. He was also apprehended, with both suspects being handed over to the very eager Toti detectives, Judy and Khumalo, who are always over the moon when we bring these guys in. They really do go the extra mile to help us and it makes it a lot easier for us.
