Warner Beach stormwater rehab project goes up in smoke as grass stolen

Newly laid strips of buffalo grass which have been pegged in place along Foster Road, close to Camp Road, are being systematically stolen.

ON THE same day that the personal use of marijuana was decriminalised in the Constitutional Court, Warner Beach contractors on Wednesday, 19 September reported that newly laid strips of buffalo grass which had been pegged in place along Foster Road, close to Camp Road, were being systematically stolen.

The grass installation is part of a stormwater run-off rehabilitation project but the municipality’s efforts to address and replace damaged infrastructure are coming under threat, however this time not from the elements.

Cllr Andre Beetge would like to hear from anyone who has information about the grass theft or theft of any other materials from these sites, or from any public land or if they have been offered grass or plants at prices that are too good to be true, on 082-718-8137.

“Those responsible are also warned that perpetrators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law as should contract funding run out, it will result in non-completion. This will then disadvantage our community as a whole,” said Cllr Beetge.
