Amanzimtoti postal delays due to ‘lack of vehicles’

Myra Pickford, who lives in the Winklespruit building, has only been receiving post every three to four weeks, and often receives bills long after they're due to be paid.

A PLETT Haven resident is concerned that the post office has insufficient vehicles to deliver post, which has resulted in her receiving her bills weeks after they’re meant to be paid.

Myra Pickford, who lives in the Winklespruit building, told the Sun that she has only been receiving post every three to four weeks, and often receives bills long after they’re due to be paid.

SCAM ALERT: Post office warns of new parcel delivery scam

When visiting the post office, Myra was told by the dispatch manager that there aren’t enough vehicles to deliver the post.

“For months now, I haven’t been receiving my post on time,” explained Myra. “And when I do finally receive it, it’s long overdue and sometimes weeks after my bills were due to be paid.”

Myra enquired with her complex’s front office about the slow delivery of post. The woman in charge explained that Plett Haven’s office, which receives a wad of post and delivers it directly to the different residents, only receives post every few weeks from the South African post office.

“When I went to the local post office to enquire about the delay further, I was directed to the dispatch section’s manager who nonchalantly explained that there aren’t enough vehicles to have the post delivered on time,” she said.

“What happened to walking or riding a bicycle as a means of getting post to its destination promptly?”

With the constant cry for more jobs, she questioned why more people are not employed to keep societal systems functioning as they should.

The Sun submitted a query to the South African post office but had by the time of going to print not received comment.
