Gymnasts fuse medal haul from Central Zone contest

Over 600 gymnasts participated in this rhythmic zone competition from KZN, Limpopo, Free State, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

Fusion Rhythmic gymnasts excelled at the Central Zone Competition for levels one to three in Johannesburg from 22 to 23 June.

Results: Level one U8: Kayli Janse van Rensburg – bronze, Zimkhitha Venter – silver; level one U9: Ashraya Hooblaul – fourth rope and gold, Karmie Labuschagne – gold; level one U10: Emma-Ann Newman – bronze, Tyler Rossouw – bronze; level one O11: Talitha Venter – fourth free dance, first rope, first overall and gold; level two U9: Mieke Bester – tied sixth free dance, tied sixth hoop, gold; level two U10: Tanneth Dawson – bronze, Lexie Marsburg – fifth free dance, first hoop, second overall and gold; level three U10: Emma Frank – silver, Leah Rubino – second free dance, silver, Danielle Chandler – sixth free dance, fifth ball, gold; level three U11: Erin McCalgan – silver; level three O11: Amy Dickin – sixth free dance, gold.

“Over 600 gymnasts participated in this rhythmic zone competition from KZN, Limpopo, Free State, Mpumalanga and Gauteng, so we are very happy with the excellent results from our local gymnasts,” said club leader and level two and three coach, Jess Odendaal.

Lindy Botha, a level one coach, and Lulu Kweyama who coaches level one U7 and U8, assisted the gymnasts at the competition.
