Get your hands dirty in Amanzimtoti clean-ups this Sunday

Those interested should register on www.actforchange.africa, a digital platform developed jointly by the Shoprite Group and volunteerism organisation Brownie Points.

AFRICA’S biggest clean-up, powered by Shoprite, will see over 6,000 people across the continent come together to clean their communities in more than 500 different events between 14 and 18 July.

Two clean-up events will be taking place in Amanzimtoti this Sunday, 15 July.

Locally, clean-ups will take place at Checkers Hyper Galleria at Galleria Mall from 10am onwards. The second local clean-up will take place from the corner of Rosslyn and Beach Road, also from 10am onwards.
Readers are urged to become part of the movement by participating in the clean-ups. Those interested should register on www.actforchange.africa, a digital platform developed jointly by the Shoprite Group and volunteerism organisation Brownie Points.

Those attending must take along weather-appropriate clothing, bin bags for collected waste, gloves, water, snacks and necessary medications. Take the lead and invite friends, colleagues and family to join in. Further share the link on social media profiles to encourage your extended network to unite to clean up Africa.

With recycling being a key component of the initiative, the website contains information about local recycling partners and waste management companies. It also gives guidance on how to organise and what to take to a clean-up.

Outside of South Africa, clean-ups are also being organised in Nigeria, Namibia, Zambia and Madagascar.
