Disabled invited to make a splash at Winklespruit Beach

I thought it would be a good opportunity to give others the joy of visiting the beach and going into the water.

A disabled Amanzimtoti resident is keen to share his love of being in the ocean.

Paul Peters (26) said he is willing to share his specially-adapted beach chair with people with disabilities in the community, who do not have the privilege and opportunity to enjoy the experience of being in the water when visiting the beach.

Paul, who was injured in a car accident at the age of three, has always been a beach lover but could not go into the water until he bought the chair a month ago.

“I thought it would be a good opportunity to give others the joy of visiting the beach and going into the water. If anyone with disabilities is keen, they can join me every Friday from 9am to 11am at Winkle Beach, depending on how many people are available and on the weather as well,” he said.

The beach chair will be used at your own risk and Paul will not be held liable for any injuries. Lifeguards will be available to assist people into the water and ensure their safety. The chair carries a weight restriction of about 90kg. For more information, call Shanaaz on 079-376-2404 or 031-916-1880, or Dalmaine on 063-868-9874.
