Dive into DAME’s minute world

One lucky visitor will also stand the chance to walk away with a magnificent miniature coffee shop display.

Dive into the wonderful world of miniatures when the Durban Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (DAME) hosts an exhibit at Toti library activities room on Saturday, 28 April from 9am to 3pm.

“This is the third year we are holding our exhibit on the same Saturday as the Highland Gathering. Last year we had a fantastic turnout as people who visited the Gathering also popped into our event,” said DAME’s Lynette Schultz.

Entrance to the exhibit is free, where visitors can enjoy an impressive display from the club’s 20 members, including three Toti members, of small items such as workbenches and scenes in teacups, plus bigger scenes such as room boxes.

One lucky visitor will also stand the chance to walk away with a magnificent miniature coffee shop display done by all the club’s members. “Every year we feature a raffle to raise funds for charity and this year we will donate the proceeds to Phrenia, a Durban organisation that deals with schizophrenia,” said Lynette.

Tickets cost only R10 and as there is no entry fee, hopefully all visitors will donate R10 for a raffle ticket. The draw will be done at 3pm and the winner will be notified telephonically.

For more information on the exhibit or the club, call Lynette on 083-336-2357.
