Suspect arrested for Athlone Park burglary

One of the intruders was nabbed on the nearby N2 off-ramp, while the second suspect escaped.

A FLEEING intruder was nabbed after a housebreaking took place in Everglade Road, Athlone Park on Thursday afternoon, 5 April.

One of the intruders was arrested on the nearby N2 off-ramp, while another escaped but is still being sought.

“The suspects forced the rear window open and entered the home,” said the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO). “They made off with two televisions, jewellery and a DVD player, along with kitchen utensils.”

One suspect was nabbed by a Blue Security Durban response officer on the freeway, near the Prospecton off-ramp. One small TV and a DVD player were returned. The second burglar was last seen in the Orient Park area of Isipingo. Responders from the CCPO, Blue Security Durban, ET Rapid Response and Metro K9 Unit tried to locate him, but their attempts have been unsuccessful. A housebreaking case has been opened at Amanzimtoti SAPS.
