Dour weather dampens Amanzimtoti Bird Park outing

The planned nature and birding walk was deemed a success by Sapphire Coast Tourism (SCT) along with all who attended.

DESPITE the rain and somewhat gloomy conditions, over 30 bird enthusiasts made up of holidaymakers and locals alike gathered at the Amanzimtoti Bird Park on Saturday morning, 31 March.

The planned nature and birding walk was deemed a success by Sapphire Coast Tourism (SCT) along with all who attended.

“Sadly, the bird activity was quiet due to the weather, but those who came were treated to great sightings of the half-collared malachite and pied kingfishers,” said bird enthusiast, Adam Cruikshank.

“The white-backed night heron made a brief appearance and sadly was only seen by one person. Blessing Majoka did a great job helping those who attended, informing them about the park as well as the bird life which was seen.”

Adam extended his gratitude to everyone that supported the walk and to Oasis Water Amanzimtoti for the sponsorship of water which kept the walkers refreshed.

“We encourage you to look out for our next walk which will take place at the end of April,” he said.
