Rally your racquet for round robin singles tennis tourney

As long as you can rally a few balls, this is the tournament for you to play in.

There is some exciting tennis on the cards for budding young Toti racquet stars.

Amanzimtoti Tennis Club hosts a red, orange and green dot round robin singles tournament on the Monday, 2 April public holiday. “Players do not have to be Roger Federer or Rafa Nadal to enter. As long as you can rally a few balls, this is the tournament for you to play in,” said the club’s Loraine Osborne. It is a starter tournament and ‘donkey drops’ may be used.

Starting times: Red ball (rough guide six to nine-year-olds) register at 8am, with play from 8.30am to 11am; orange ball (rough guide nine to 11-year-olds) register at 8am, with play from 8.30am to 11.30am; green dot balls (rough guide 11 to 14-year-olds) register at noon, with play from 12.30pm to 4pm.

To enter, email lorainetennis@vodamail.co.za or SMS to 079-237-5231. State clearly which event you are entering – red, orange or green dot balls. The entry fee is R120 per child (cash on registration) – no pay, no play. Entry deadline is Wednesday, 28 March.
