Toti adds 2,500 litres towards Cape animal shelter water drive
The aim is to have a water drive once a month with the next one scheduled for Thursday, 8 February.
The Amanzimtoti community has shown once again how fantastic it can be in times of strife.
Heeding a late call to collect and donate water for animal shelters in the drought-stricken Cape Town area, almost 2,500 litres were collected and transported within mere days.
Pat McMillan said she spotted a social media post from a Glenwood woman early last week, calling on Durban residents to donate the precious resource by Monday morning, 29 January.
“I thought it would be a good idea for Toti residents to get on board, so I shared it on one of our local social media pages,” said Pat. “The response we received was incredible. Cool Innovations in the Southgate Business Park donated 500 litres alone.
I received a quote of R800 to transport the water to Glenwood but Bluff Meat Supply offered to transport the water free of charge in a 12-ton truck and asked that I instead purchase more water with the money, which I did.”

Pat said their deadline was 9.30am but at 11.30am Toti locals were still arriving in their droves with five-litre bottles of water.
