Motorist critical after car rolls across N2 centre median at Winklespruit

A motorist was left critical after the car he was driving on the N2 southbound at Winklespruit at about 3.30pm today (Monday, 29 January) rolled across the centre median, eventually coming to rest on the northbound carriageway.

Two northbound lanes were closed but traffic authorities allowed motorists to pass using the emergency lane.

The driver, a man in his 50s, was ejected as the car rolled and he was found lying on the road with critical injuries. VEMA paramedics, ER24 paramedics and Kingsway High School’s Chris Botha stabilised the motorist. They ventilated him before transporting him to Kingsway Hospital.

Road Traffic Inspectorate and Metro Police attended the scene and fire department officials cleared the scene of crash debris.
