Motorists warned to beware when passing under bridges in KZN

Motorists are warned to exercise caution when passing underneath overhead bridges in the province, following a double fatality in Tongaat.

MEC for Transport, Community and Liaison, Mxolisi Kaunda issued the warning to motorists in light of an incident in which two children aged between 15 and 7 years were killed on Tongaat Bridge.  It is alleged the driver was passing beneath a bridge when a large rock was hurled at his car, which resulted in the death of two children.  The father was taken to the nearest hospital for medical attention.  A case of murder was opened.

Kaunda warned motorists to be extra careful when travelling, saying: “We condemn the barbaric act that has resulted in the loss of these innocent lives. This kind of behaviour will be not be tolerated at all. I want to appeal to all those who might have information about this incident to come forward and assist the police. On behalf of government, we would like to send our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.”
