ABC’s belles have fun at Cherry Bell bowls
Well done to the men’s competition Secretary for getting the competition to the semi-final level so quickly.

THE Cherry Bell kicked off the season’s more light-hearted games for the women at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club on Saturday, 2 December.
It was a fun morning with everyone dressed in the bright reds and greens of cherries, with a prize for the best dressed ‘belle’ which was won by Linda McGregor.
Marion Crouch and Jackie Holdrick won the bowls, with Marietjie van der Bergh and Marie van der Walt runners-up. Lyn Joubert and Sue Welch won the session prize, and Amanda Ninow and Marilyn Thiart won the lucky draws. Barbara Beamson won the gammon raffle and Denise Bingham won the 100 board. Marie van der Walt also won the ‘Robyn Hutton floating trophy’.
A big thank you to Jeanne Alexander and Jane Coetzee for organising the morning.
On Thursday and Friday, 30 November and 1 December all three of ABC’s greens were filled by the Port Natal women’s squad fundraiser. Everyone was there to enjoy themselves and the event went off well. The Collegians team of Sheila Markovic, Marilyn Giraudeaux, Mario Markovic and Wendy Thomas came first, and the top Toti team, coming second, was that of Marion Crouch, Marietjie van der Bergh, Adrienne Robbins and Ian Crouch.
A big vote of thanks goes to in-house DJ – Alfie Bingham who had everybody’s feet tapping for both the fundraiser and the Cherry Bell.
The first three rounds of the men’s trips were played last weekend, and the winning teams in the preliminary round were Clive Frank, Cleve Hein and Dean Cooper; Peter Callaghan, Ian Mills and Mark Brodie; and Gerald Chalder-Royle, Neville Roscoe and Andy Jones. First round winners were Peter Callaghan, Ian Mills and Mark Brodie; Andy McDonald, Graham Ellis and Dallas Davis; Mike Roberts, Keith West and Colin Spence; Alan McGregor, Tony Cam and George Glaves; Vish Studinski, Gustav Somers and Wessie vd Westhuizen; Mike Groom, Ray Robinson and Les Brown; Adie Fuller, Alf Bingham and Brian Masters; and Greg McLeod, Doug Joubert and Mike Pitchers.
Second round/quarter-final winners going through to the semis were Andy McDonald, Graham Ellis and Dallas Davis; Mike Roberts, Keith West and Colin Spence; Vish Studinski, Gustav Somers and Wessie van der Westhuizen; and Greg McLeod, Doug Joubert and Mike Pitchers.

At TGIF the 100 board was won by Pete Shepard. Brian Ridley was not present to collect the attendance prize, so it will be R300. Alan Moscrop couldn’t find the right key to open the box, so next week the key draw will be worth R9,490.
Dates to remember this month are women’s turkey day on Saturday, 9 December; men’s turkey day on Sunday, 10 December; men versus women on Saturday, 16 December and Big Chicks on Sunday, 17 December. All four competitions are at 8.30am for 9am.
