Lepront siblings shine on all fields

Be it on the sports field, in the pool, at a desk, on the beach or in the surf, the high achievers do, not only their parents, but their school and sports clubs proud.

LOCAL Lepront siblings Luc (11), Louise (9) and Leah (7) of Warner Beach Preparatory continue to excel in nearly everything they take on.

Be it on the sports field, in the pool, at a desk, on the beach or in the surf, the high achievers do, not only their parents, but their school and sports clubs proud.

Luc was born in Ireland and began his life in South Africa at age two, when his parents Catherine and Julien immigrated. Both Louise and Leah have lived in sunny South Africa their whole life.

The grade five, three and one pupils participate in a wide variety of sports and achieve highly in all.

Luc participates in swimming, cricket, hockey, cross country and soccer at Warner Beach Prep. Once school hours are up, with a board under the arm, he takes to the waves as an avid surfer. Having grown in strength, Luc surfs for the Ugu Surfriders Association and made it through to SA Grom Champs in March and then SA Champs in Jeffreys Bay in October. He enjoys being part of a team and gives his all at what he does.

Luc and Leah Lepront of Warner Beach Preparatory with Seagulls swimming coach Luke Isemonger show off the prestigious medals they won at the KZN Swimming Champs in October.

Younger sister, Louise enjoys swimming, cricket, netball, hockey, soccer, athletics, cross country and tennis at school. She is a high achiever and is an avid Ugu team surfer after school hours and on weekends, often competing in U12 or U16 events and placing well. Louise is a very determined girl and strives to always do better. She thoroughly enjoyed winning the U9 south coast nipper of the year.

Youngest Lepront, Leah has taken to swimming, cricket, netball, hockey, athletics and cross country in just her first year of school. Little Leah is not in anyone’s shadow but continues to grow and shine in many ways.

Once school hours are up Leah and elder sister Louise enjoy nippers at Warnadoone Lifesaving Club and Vantage Gymnastics.

“We don’t push our children,” said Catherine. “Sometimes they have a bad day, but I refrain from ever pushing them. If they’re tired or don’t feel up to a training or game, they just miss it – and that is okay.”

Catherine admitted that she was very sporty at school, as was her husband.

“My husband Julien, growing up in the North of France, didn’t get too many opportunities but when he did, he excelled as he is rather competitive,” she said.
“We brought up our children on the beach and in the outdoors. They started nippers at a young age. Moving to Warners Prep was the best move, as the school promotes and encourages participation in sport.”

Catherine and Julien are beyond proud of all their children.

The importance of participating in sport for a healthy, balanced life cannot be over emphasised and in this case, which is one of many, it is clear that an active lifestyle promotes success in the classroom among other places.

Luke, Louise and Leah Lepront with swimming coach Luke Isemonger show off their medals raked in at a Westville TYR gala in November.
