Cardinals juniors show up Promo team in 12-9 win
Cardinals promo scored four runs in the third inning. Craig Longworth, Laezaro Lopez, Coetzee, and Craig Dempsey all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
ON Sunday, Cardinals Baseball Club’s promo side (the Ballies) took on Cardinals 2 (juniors).
Cardinals 2 bested the Promo side in a high-scoring affair, winning 12-9.
Cardinals Promo took an early lead in the second inning. Brendon Visser drove in a run when he walked with the bases loaded.
Cardinals 2 took the lead for good with seven runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Dylan Purchase grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Cardinals 2, Dale Coetzee induced Keaton Geary to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored, and Nathan Grobler doubled on a two to two count, scoring two runs.

Grobler was credited with the victory for Cardinals 2. He allowed six hits and five runs over five innings, striking out five.
Coetzee took the loss for Cardinals promo side. He went six innings, allowing 12 runs on nine hits and striking out seven. Nathan Gilbert started the game for Cardinals 2. He surrendered four runs on three hits over two innings, striking out three.
Cardinals 2 collected nine hits. Gilbert and Purchase all managed multiple hits for Cardinals 2. Gilbert led with three hits in four at bats. Cardinals 2 stole nine bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Daniel Gilbert led the way with three.
Cardinals promo tallied nine hits, with Keith Dempsey and Coetzee each collecting multiple hits. Dempsey went three-for-four at the plate to lead in hits. He also tore up the base paths, showing the youngsters how to steal bases.
Man of the match went to Keith Dempsey for his batting and all-round performance on the field.
