CONGRATULATIONS to the Amanzimtoti Bowling Club team of Jeanne Alexander, Jane Coetzee and Heather Cooper who came first out of a field of 24 in the Westville women’s trips Spring tournament.

In a tight final game it came down to Jeanne’s last bowl which moved the jack back to pick up seven shots.

In ABC’s women’s 2-4-2, the winners were Doreen Salmond and Jackie Holdrick; runners-up were Jeannette Els and Sue Welch; and the second session went to Lys McDonald and Debbie Gueffroy. Carole Glaves won the 100 board.

At TGIF the 100 board was won by Linden Cooper. Barry Buckland’s tab number came up in the attendance draw, but unfortunately he was not at the club so next week’s prize is worth R150. Marilyn Thiart drew the ‘unlucky’ key, as sadly it did not turn in the lock for her. Next week’s key is worth R7,760.

The draw for the men’s nominated trips is on the board, and the first three games are carded for Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 December. For those playing the Brad Cox tournament, note that fees are now due.

It was evident that members had been missing their bowls due to the flood damage, judging by the big turn-out at social bowls on Saturday. Slowly but surely the greens are getting back to normal – thanks to everyone for their patience.

Condolences are sent to the friends and family of the late Doreen Botes, who was an honorary life member of the club.
