Clairvoyant to launch book in Amanzimtoti

‘When you Die’ is based on Lourens' real-life experiences, in his dealings with dying and deceased clients.

An-Warner Beach resident and clairvoyant has written a book about the afterlife.

Lourens Coetzer was born in Warner Beach in 1964, went to Kuswag Skool, varsity and the army and settled back in Toti.

“I discovered that I was clairvoyant and decided to pursue that as a career,” said Lourens. “I realised that being a psychic in Toti would not work, so I moved to Cape Town in 2005,” said Lourens.

But making a living in Cape Town was not easy. “Fortunately I persevered and became known for the work I do.”

Eventually word spread globally and Lourens now has more than 1,000 clients from 15 different countries and counting. “I work with them via Skype and travel internationally once a year to see some of them in person. I have also written a book that I am about to launch worldwide.”

‘When you Die’ is based on Lourens’ real-life experiences, in his dealings with dying and deceased clients.

“Imagine how much easier life would be if you understood it and the relief at knowing what happens to you after death,” said Lourens.

‘When you Die’ is packed with lessons about life and death. The central message of the book is that what happens to you after death depends mostly on how you live right now.

“When you Die is equally about life, karma, knowing yourself and loving who you are. It also explains the sense behind life, how and why we get to be on this planet, and the processes that happen when we die.”

Lourens felt compelled to write the book only after the death of his father some seven years ago. In assisting him on his afterlife journey “with utmost clarity” made Lourens realise the true value of writing the book.

“It was not easy, as the topic is highly controversial and sensitive. But if you live in my world, everything you do is risky. I had to stay clear of religious teachings about death, because every religion teaches something different.
I wanted to avoid insulting anyone. When writing the book, I only relied on my own practical experiences and observations.

I chose to write it from behind the scenes, so I wrote it as a novel and created a character called Joshua who had similar experiences to me. The book is about life and death, as seen through my eyes. It’s a novel inspired by the experiences I had with people who have died.

About 12 years ago I discovered that, while being with dying people, I could actually see the soul leave the body at death and like a spectator, witness everything else that happens during ascension.

I found I somehow knew my way around that world and discovered I could actually take the soul of a departed person by the hand and lead him or her all the way to where they needed to go.

I could see the beauty in the last phase of life, but noticed how my clients could not. I realised that if they could only see what I could see, they would no longer fear that inevitable moment that will eventually happen to all of us. Those last few days would become much more peaceful. I also realised that sharing what I saw with the family of the deceased made the grieving process noticeably easier.”

Lourens will visit his home town to do a book launch on Sunday, 29 October at 305 Guest House, 305 Ipahla Road at 2pm. RSVP to 083-236-5539.
